PHYSIOTHERAPISTS

Bronwen Talbot

BSc Physiotherapy, University of the Western Cape, 2012
Certification in Othopaedic Manual Therapy 2014 and Sports Physiotherapy 2015 (SASP)

Bronwen Talbot joined Franschhoek Physiotherapy and Associates in 2014 and plunged into advanced training with the courses offered by the South African Society of Physiotherapy. This brought about a baptism of learning and extreme professional growth. Bronwen mentored Claire Horn and Villene Alderslade during these years and developed a keen sense for analysing and resolving complex orthopaedic pain conditions. Pain education combined with manual therapy and exercise are tools used to help resolve orthopaedic problems and restore good physical health.

Bronwen offers one on one hands-on physical therapy, active rehabilitation and classes at the Franschhoek practice. Her personal enjoyment of running and gym training allows her to incorporate the principles of training and addressing the needs of the whole body.

As a home-grown Paarl girl, Bronwen enjoys a personal history with the Boland region and rich sense of commitment to family, fun, good food and wine.

Maans has a key role in the Physiotherapy on Farms project which he has worked hard to develop and delivers essential services to farm workers on Boschendal Farm.

Further study has begun and he is currently overloaded and excited by increase in knowledge in the certification process offered by the SASP in Orthopedic Manual Therapy. Maans is committed to a year of reading, writing and learning. Developing skills excites him and adds to his rapidly developing skills as a physiotherapist.

“ There is no medicine like hope. No incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow. ” ~ Orison Swett Marsden

Claire Horn founded the physiotherapy practice in Franschhoek in 2002 after extensive time in the USA. At that stage she had no idea of the extraordinary journey that was to unfold over the next decade or two! Now firmly ensconced in her family, her friends and her mountains in Franschhoek; Claire enjoys the people and the beauty that this Valley has brought to the meaning of life!

Claire thrives being outdoors with her family and friends and participates in cycling, running and swimming for the occasional TriAthlon.  A spot of off road cycling or running or mountain hiking thrown in for fun! The odd endurance event and mountain summit are part of her story and life experience.

Claire’s interest in resolving pain concerns and orthopaedic rehabilitation has developed through working with patients from all walks of life and a few fascinating travels, life experiences, and some extreme adventure. Inspired and mentored during 1996 in a full-time residency fellowship program in orthopaedic manual therapy was a turning point of developmental growth and clinical understanding of complex conditions. This experience transformed my clinical practice and interest in orthopaedic manual therapy. https://graduate-physicaltherapy-education.kaiserpermanente.org

Claire indeed thrives on the unique stories and the journey of each patient. It is a privilege to have been part of so many stories over a few short 30 years. This experience has informed her clinical practice and formed part of who she is as a person with a passion for physical health for the whole person. It is Claire’s hope that through engaging individuals in a process of learning and action that pain can be understood, contained, and the individual person empowered to lead a life with hope, strength and physical calm.
